About me

My name is Samantha Brenz, and I graduated from Chippewa Valley High School in 2014. During my time at Macomb Community College, I discovered the exciting sport of ultimate frisbee.

I served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Electrician, which allowed me to explore the world while still finding opportunities to play ultimate frisbee.

I went on to earn my degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, where I played and eventually coached the women’s ultimate frisbee team, BLACK PEARL. One of my fondest memories from this time was the game to qualify for regionals, marking our team’s first appearance at regionals since 1994. I also had the privilege of coaching ECU’s men’s team, the IRATES.

While playing and coaching at the university, I joined one of North Carolina’s top mixed club teams, TORO. Qualifying for nationals with this team was an influential and eye-opening moment in my ultimate journey.

I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at the University of Michigan while serving on the coaching staff for Eastern Michigan University’s ultimate frisbee team, HELLFISH.

Through the creation of TCU, I am now focused on expanding the ultimate frisbee community in Michigan and introducing this incredible sport to the Tri-County area.
